Mongolian BBQ and Family History Work

For date night a couple of weeks ago – I put Adam in charge of the evening since I was feeling very uncreative and non-decisive.  Adam wanted to try out a new Mongolian BBQ restaurant that just opened up in Springville and so after meeting him at Ihop after he got off work – we headed over. We were both really impressed with the food and loved that it was all you can eat for $9!  Sa-weet!
Afterwards Adam took me over to the family history center in Spanish fork where he has been wanting to go and do some research on our families for some time.  We have been working on my Nana’s line at home on Familysearch.com, but had run into some dead ends and wanted to try out the program Ancestry.com (which is free at the center) to see if we could find more information on our relatives.  Boy Howdy, did we ever!!!  Within 5 minutes of being at the center – one of the nice volunteer ladies had helped me find the wife of one of my relatives which consequently was a line that someone else had been working on and that went as far back as the early 1000’s!  It was so fun to discover that I was related to some Lords, and Kings, and that a lot of that line came from Scotland!  And I was able to trace that particular line back over 700 years and I found probably 100 new ancestors on that line alone (and that wasn’t even looking at their children).  Wowsee, Wow, Wow!  So cool!
Then if that weren’t enough, I also tried researching one of my great great geat (who knows how many greats) Indian grandmothers Flora Bell who I’ve recently taken through the temple.  I wanted to find her parents if possible, but thought my chances of doing that were slim seeing as she was a Canadian Indian and I assumed wouldn’t have much documentation.  BUT…once again I hit a jackpot of information and was able to not only find her parents, but her parents parents and many many generations back that way as well.  And probably discovered another 50+ people on that line!  Needless to say, I was feeling very very humble and very very blessed to have been able to find so many of my family members in such a short amount of time!  It truly was a miracle and a witness to me that Heavenly Father wants and desires for us to bring families together.  Every single time I have worked on my line something amazing like this happens.  It is truly inspiring.  All the rest of the night I just felt SO MUCH JOY!!!  And the song, “if it so be that you shall labor all your days and bring but one soul unto me, how great will be your joy” kept coming to my mind and I truly did feel that JOY at discovering those from my past and knowing that I could now take so many precious members of my family to the temple and give them the opportunity to accept the gospel of Jesus Christ!  How grateful I am to be able to help in this great work and to be a missionary to my ancestors on the other side.  The gospel of Jesus Christ is true my friends!  No doubt about it!  It sure was a wonderful date night out with my honey where we both were able to feel so much happiness in discovering those who went before us!
