This coming Friday our wonderful friends the Jurgens are hosting a Cinco De Mayo party at their home (which we are SOOOO excited about!) April was actually our turn to host our Jurashics group but Adam and I ended up having to cancel it when my pregnancy did not cooperate with our cruise dates and we ended up having to go two weeks earlier. Luckily everyone was really cool about it and the Jurgens were kind enough to let us HELP them with this months Jurashics by bringing the Pinata! And although I did try shopping for one at Wal-Mart – I didn’t find any that I really liked – or that I thought was worth the $20 dollars they wanted for them. So I decided I would try my hand at making my own. I had done it once on my mission – I could figure it out again, right?
So last Saturday night while the kids were out playing in the yard Adam and I set to work making a pinata out of a balloon with newspaper and a flour/water paste we made up. Then we set it out in the garage to dry. And since Adam has been gone all week – the kids and I decided that we would paint it one night for our after dinner activity. So paint we did. We all got into our little aprons – set out some newspapers and then got to work painting. Branson painted the tail and the triangles for the dragons neck – Harry painted the red fire coming out of the dragons mouth – and Dawson was given a piece of paper and brush to paint any picture he wanted! (which also resorted in him painting the floor and table) he he. Then Mommy did the rest of the dragon. Then this morning we duck taped it all together for the finished product!
Sarah, that it so cute. I bet the boys loved it!
