On Friday the kids and I heard about an activity where the Payson City Firefighters were having a fire lighting ceremony for the annual Salmon Supper that night. So at lunch time we packed up a picnic and headed over to the park to catch the big event. We got there a little bit early – so we got to see the whole process of them setting up. First they made little fires by pulling Apple wood out of the big pile. Then they all went and put similar colored bricks on top of the wood. Then they poured gasoline on top of each fire, set up the grates that would hold the fish on them later, and set each fire ablaze.
Later that day the kids had “cousins camp” which is a big sleepover party my Mother-in-law does every year for all her grandchildren. So at 3:30 I took the kids up there for that. Then I met my Mom at a nail salon here in Payson where she treated me to a pedicure before this little girl comes. What a sweetie huh? LOVE her. After pedicures Mom and I met up with my good friends Joey and Missy Jurgens at the Payson Salmon Supper for some GRUB. We were a bit surprised though because even after getting there at 5:15 we STILL had to wait an hour and 15 minutes just to get our food. The line was one block line when we first arrived and grew to 2 blocks long by around 6:00 pm. CRAZY. This was a huge difference from the year before when we got there right at 5:00 and had no wait at all. But, I must say that it was definitely worth the wait. You just can’t get any better than smoked Salmon. YUM!
