The other day Branson and I had a great time pretending. He opened up the blinds and told me about a monkey in the tree outside. Trying to Encourage him to use his imagination, I eagerly looked out the window and asked, “what is the monkey’s name?” He said his name was Daddy. “Oh so its a Daddy monkey huh? What color is he?” Branson looked at me funny and responded, “you tell me Mom.” I pretended my monkey was pink. He decided his would be blue. Later I pretended the monkey came inside the house and I was petting him. Branson, looked at me confused and said, “but Mommy, I don’t see him!” đ
Harrison woke up from his nap around then so we went into the other room to get him. We played for a minute in there (the boys LOVE looking at themselves in the mirror) and then Branson asked to read a book. “Why don’t you go and pick one out,” I suggested. So Branson got down off the bed and went into the other room only to come back frantically screaming, “It’s scary, It’s scary!” I went into the living room with him holding his hand and asked, “what is scary Branson?” He promptly responds, “The MONKEY Mom!” I’m trying to hold back giggling, and try to tell him that its only a pretend monkey who is nice and won’t hurt him. So Branson goes back to getting his book from the shelf and then turns around and asks, “where is the monkey now Mom?” I respond, “he’s sitting on my lap. He wants to read the story too.” “Oh” Branson replies. Then Branson comes over and attempts to sit on my lap, but as he does so, I tease him by saying, “Be careful! Don’t sit on the monkey!” He laughs and then I realize he has a stinky bum and needs a diaper change. “Lets change your diaper before we read your book bud,” I tell him. He gets me the wipes and diapers, lies down on the floor and we get the dirty job over with. Then he takes the diaper to the garbage and comes back and sits on my lap to read his book. Just as he does so, he looks up at me and with the most serious face and says, “I’m sure glad we got that monkey out of my bum!” I couldn’t control myself this time and giggled uncontrollably for a few minutes. It was the high light of my day! đ Had to share. Hope you got a kick out of it too!
