When Harrison turned three a few weeks ago Adam and I decided that was IT for Harry wearing diapers and that we REALLY needed to get serious about Potty Training. We’ve tried Potty Training multiple times with Harry but he just never seemed very interested and fought us TOOTH and NAIL over it, often screaming, “I want to wear diapers!”
However, this time we just told him that once he turned THREE, that there would be no more diapers for him. He seemed excited to be a big boy but when the actual day came of putting on Skivvy’s for the first time, he cried big huge crocodile tears and refused. So he ran around naked all morning. But.. about 30 minutes later he asked to go play outside and I mentioned he needed to wear skivvy’s and shorts to go outside and he was a changed boy, dancing and prancing about and SO excited to put on his skiv’s. I have no idea what made the difference but I was sure glad about it. đ
Suck it in buddy!
Checking himself out in the mirror!
I wish I could say things have gone smoothly, but unfortunately the cosmo’s don’t seem to align for me when it comes to Potty Training and its never been an easy task for me and one that I often feel like a complete failure in as a mother. What I can say though, is that things are going BETTER now and that we have indeed been making progress…
I’ve had to fall to my knees A LOT asking for added strength and patience to get through some of our Potty training days, but it is finally coming along and that I am so grateful for. Harrison for the most part is now going pee pee in the BIG Potty now pretty regularly and finally has when he needs to go mastered. This has been HUGE! However, we still have yet to get him to go #2 on the potty AT ALL. So we have at least 1-2 messes a day which has led us to resort to wearing Pull-ups full time instead of skiv’s. But at least Mom and Dads sanity is still in tact. Hopefully it won’t be long now…
Hey, Princess, if it's any comfort to you, my sweet girl is still having regular accidents, but I have yet to see a college co-ed struggle with it! And they say childhood goes so fast… Chins up together!
