Quiet Christmas at Home

Christmas morning is always one of my favorite times! I get so excited for the kids to see what Santa brought them that I can hardly contain myself. I toss and turn all night in anticipation and am usually the first person up. This Christmas was no exception!

After the kids got up we had them all come into my room where we waited for Grandma and Grandpa to arrive. Then when we heard the door bell ring, we were surprised to learn that it was actually Santa who had come, to pay the boys a special visit! He couldn’t stay long, but wanted to wish us a Merry Christmas and make sure everyone had been good this year. Daddy escorted him in, brought him into our room (where the kids and I were hiding under the covers) and he threatened to pull our toes if we were naughty! The only one that got their toes pulled though was ME! 🙂 Santa rung some bells so that you could hear him throughout the house, and then wished us a Merry Christmas as he headed back out to his sleigh!

Finally it was time for us to go out to see what he had brought! Unfortunately, most of the pictures turned out blurry, but thats what happens when your children are bouncing up and down in excitement right? 🙂

Dawson made out nicely with a new air ball popper, huge Winnie the Poo puzzle, a little scooter/walker, a sesame street ball, new binkeys, and some new ABC bath toys!

Harrison got a little toy car, a Semi truck filled with hot wheel cars, buzz light year, and a toy piano!

And as requested Branson got his Pig that eats Hamburgers game, Connect 4 game, Spiderman Pillow, an Incredibles action figure, and a basketball hoop

Bobbers pretty much stayed in this car most of the morning!
(A steal we found at a yard sale for a whopping $4)

Sazza was completely content just watching all the excitement as long as he got to suck on his brand new binky! 🙂

Branson going through his stocking filled with lots of candy, new twisty straws, card games, balls, a slinky, a lifesavers book, Monsters vs. Aliens DVD, glow sticks, popping firecrackers, colored pencils and an orange (a tradition in Adam’s family).

Then Branson had me open a present he had made for me at school!

It was a beautiful hand made Angel of himself! I absolutely loved it!

Grandma and Grandpa had a great time watching the kids open all their new presents!

And Branson couldn’t wait to play his new Pop the Pig game!

We always loved how Santa writes us notes back. This years said, “Dear Egbert family, Thanks for the cookies and for being such good boys this year. Keep up the good work! See you next Christmas! Love, Santa. P.S. Rudolf says to say hello!”

The only bummer part of Christmas is that I woke up feeling incredibly weak and sick. I had developed some nasty sore throat bug as we were leaving my Mom’s house Christmas Eve, and by Christmas morning it hit me full force. I ended up feeling too week to even open up any of my presents or look through my stocking. I ended up going straight back to bed after I watched the kids and Adam open presents and slept 7 hours that day.

We also got the pleasure of having Justin Mueke from our singles ward over Christmas morning. His family all lives out of town and he was nice enough to join us for Breakfast (which Adam ended up having to make since I was sick in bed).

The rest of the day is sort of a blur for me since I spent most of it sleeping. But I do remember reading the account of Christs birth in Luke and just feeling so very grateful for my Savior. It is because of him that we celebrate this season and I am so thankful for Christ, for his birth, life, mission, atonement, death, resurrection, and love. I know he lives and loves each one of us personally. What an incredible gift he is from our Heavenly Father! Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas! Love, The Egbert Family
