Salem Pond

Last week Adam was gone for 4 days to Moab for our wards Young Mens Scout camp and so the kids and I decided to come up with some fun activities we could do while he was gone.  One of our all time favorites places to play at during the summer (especially since it is only a few minutes away) is the Salem Pond.  So after getting jobs done and the house cleaned, we packed a picnic lunch, threw on our swim suits, and headed on over.

We started by busting out the picnic before the boys were released to go play.  We had PB & Honey sandwhiches, strawberries, apples, pears, doritos, and gatorade.

Then the boys were off to play in the sand and water!

This little one has never been in any sort of water other than a bath and hot tub – so feeling the cold water pond water on her toes felt funny.  She didn’t really react at first – but then started crying after her feet had been in the water about a minute.  Poor Frozey Tosies!

The boys are still mostly afraid of water so they don’t really dare wade in past their knees.  So most of the afternoon they just had fun building motes (or what they called “tracks”) for the water to come into.  Either that or big piles of sand.  They loved playing in the dirt and getting all dirty!

Because Sissy didn’t care for the cold water much – she and I just hung out on a beach towel and played in the sand.

Afterwards we headed over to our friend Shellie Smiths house.  She and her family just moved out of our ward into a new home in Salem and we have been missing their family so much.  We stopped by to see their beautiful new house and catch up on their adventures.

Sure was a great way to spend a Wednesday afternoon on a hot summers day!
