Schofield Cabin

The last weekend in May we got an email from my wonderful in-laws, Mum and Smurf, who have a cabin in Schofield and were offering it up to anyone in the family that wanted to use it. It had been over two years since we’d been to the cabin just our little family so we decided to do a last minute trip and go. With our inclination to be social, however, we ended up sending out a very last minute email to friends and family and were lucky enough to get a few takers on our invitation to join up with us at the cabin. Our guests included my brother Luke and his family, and one of my best friends from High School Becky Turley Rassmussen and her family.

The first night we had a wonderful dinner of Tacos (made by Luke and Shannon), and then decided to move the party outside for some marshallow roastin to make smores. I was in charge of getting the fire going but ended up needing to re-start the fire about 15 different times because the paper we were using would NOT burn! It was so weird. It was actually from an old dictionary. Adam thought that the paper had some sort of chemical on it, but knowing him, he was probably just trying to make me feel better about my lack of fire-starting skills! 🙂

After filling our bellies with smores we threw our smelly kids and selfs in the drink (tub), put the kids to bed, and then stayed up playing the Wii. Luke brought up a new game using a cross bow and we had a fun time shooting at things and trying to beat each others scores.

Happily eating Smores! Life is always good when chocolate is involved!

On Sunday the kids and Adam and I went to church at the little LDS branch in Schofield, but Branson got car sick on the way there causing us to miss part of primary, and then Dawson and Harrison both had melt downs in Sacrament meeting, so we ended up bailing during the third hour and going back to the cabin to put the kids down for naps.

Afterwards Luke gave Branson his first 4-wheeling lesson and let him drive their mini-wheeler that he has for his kids. Then Adam and I took a few leisurly rides on the 4-wheeler with the kids around in the hills and admired the beautiful creations around us. It was a beautiful day!

Look at me go Dad!

Later that evening Neil and Becky arrived, and we spent the night playing some fun Harrison family favorite games like in the manner of the Adverb, Coffee pot, and the animal game.

All in all it was a wonderful weekend and so very nice to spend time with family and friends. Thanks so much for coming up guys! We had a great time and love your guts! 🙂
