This little girl is such a joy to have in our lives! If she is in the room there is just constant smiles from everyone and all attention is ON HER! She is immediately smothered by kisses from her brothers and told she is the “cutest baby in the world” from the moment she wakes up until the moment she goes to sleep. There is no question that this girl is completely ADORED by us her family. We just can’t help it. She really is just the cutest thing ever.
Adalynn, at 7 months old you are smiling like crazy, love to grab at everything you can from the toys in your box, to Mommy’s face, jewelry, clothes, eyes, and hair. You are super curious about fabrics and just want to touch everything. You especially like the feel of BOOKS which is so interesting. Out of a whole box of toys you immediately always go straight for the books every time and love it when Mommy helps you change the pictures.
You talk and coo like crazy saying “bla bla bla,” or “oooh oooh oooh” like a monkey. It makes us all laugh. You are sitting up like a champ and can stay sitting up without help for long stretches of time. You are also rolling from front to back and back to front and left to right and right to left like crazy. We do what we call “Rolly Polly’s” on the floor where we help you practice rolling over. You love being able to get around a little more on your own.
You are starting to enjoy your bumbo more but especially just love being where the party is. I place you in your bumbo while I’m making dinner and you love just being where you can see what is going on. You are super grabby though and like to touch everything around you which sometimes ends with a mess. For instance just this week you grabbed handfuls of spinach out of our salad, and also have dumped out water glasses that have been filled up for dinner.
You are still sleeping beautifully and usually go down about 8:00 pm and then not wake up again until 8:00 am (12 hours). Its heavenly and wonderful and its nice that we are all getting a good nights rest. You are also still an excellent napper. You eat at around 8:30 each morning (a 7-8 oz bottle) and then will stay up until about 10:00 am when its time for your nap. I usually have to wake you for your 12:30 bottle. You’ll then stay up with Mommy playing with toys or jumping in your bouncer (although you still don’t get the concept of actually jumping in it) until about 2:00 when you go down for your second nap of the day. You usually get up around 4:30ish to eat again and then hang out with Mom in the kitchen while I make dinner and during dinner and clean up. Then its nap time again at 6:30 or 7:00.
Lately you’ve been completely sleeping through your 8:30 feeding so I’ve just been waking you up at around 10:30 for your last diaper change and feeding of the night before putting you back to bed. What an easy going and happy baby you are!
Right now you absolutely LOVE taking baths with Mommy in the tub and for some reason your favorite thing to do is to chew on the rubber letters or fishies. You are just completely content in there and act as if its the best thing in the world to just soak in the tub. You love getting washed, don’t mind it when I put your ears in the water, or when I try to help you learn how to float. Being in the water just seems so natural to you.
One of the things Dad and I love most about you is your CHUNK! You have rubber band rings all over your arms and legs and you are just so fun to squish with all your chub! (Although you are actually only in the 50 percentile for weight). But we love it and I couldn’t help but snap a few pictures of some of those chubs so that I can remember them always. You are just so squishable and we LOVE it!
I also can’t help myself and everyday just LOVE to dress you up in cute frilly dresses and put bows in your hair – whether its Sunday or not. I could put you in a dress everyday if it weren’t still so darn cold outside! But for now, pants and long jackets seem to be what keep you warmest.
You still like to be swaddled when you sleep and like a binky to help sooth yourself – although its popped out within minutes. You also love the feel of a soft blanket on your face and will turn your body all sorts of funny ways to make sure that your face is touching that blanket. So most of the time I just nuzzle it into your cheek before leaving. You go down without a fuss at all or even a wimper. I just wrap you up, pop the bink in, put the blanket by your face, and leave the room. Easy Peasy Lemon Squeezy. We sure do love you!
We are still struggling with giving you SOLIDS as most of the time you make a sour face and then promptly just spit out whatever it is we gave you. You don’t seem to care for sweet potatoes, carrots, rice cereal, oatmeal, or potatoes. And even banana’s you will spit out initially. The only thing you seem to really enjoy are those puff cereal like things, and Kix. Although this week you also did well with a green smoothie.
Right now you seem to not like being on your back as much and are much happier if you are sitting up. Most the time you will immediately turn to your tummy too as soon as you are able. You are really good at holding your own bottle and have excellent hand coordination and can crab pretty much everything you want. You seem to most like to touch fabrics to see what they feel like. You love to grab up with both hands and touch faces – which melts both your Daddy and I and your brothers. But because of that we have to keep your fingernails SHORT!

You still aren’t a super giggly baby, but sure are happy and smiley and will giggle on occasion (although Dad makes fun of your giggle because it just sounds like you hold your breath and then release it with a big burst of energy). You are moving around a lot more and seem to be WAY more busy than you were last month, but you still will sit on our laps content for awhile as well. You love being sung to and love having your head upside down if you are lying on our lap. It seems to be a very comfortable position for you.
In short baby girl – we all just love you and are so grateful you are apart of our family. What joy you bring into our lives! Sending big hugs your way, your very own Mommy pants!
