Snow, Yard Work, and a Change of Plans…

Earlier this week there were some BIG smiles on our house when we woke up one morning to SNOW! Harrison was completely excited to go out and play and begged me to get his snow clothes out of storage. I can’t believe its already time for snow clothes but what can a mother do when big brown and hazel eyes look up at your so adoringly? He sure was a cutie all dressed up!

On the days that have been sunny, I have spent most of my time outside working on last minute yard things before winter. One day I planted 180 tulip, daffodil, crocus, and Iris bulbs in our backyard. Then another day I weeded one of our 120 foot tiers and then Adam tilled it up and we put landscaping paper down. Then another day I went and got a truck load of mulch to put over the landscaping paper and last night Adam and I worked on that until dark. Today I was able to finish putting the mulch down on our tiers and then decided to shovel manure into our garden boxes for next year. So glad to have it all done before winter hits!

Here are our three tiers that are finally all weeded, with landscaping paper and wood chips! Yay!

And one of our 120 foot tiers that also got weeded, covered in landscaping paper, and then covered in wood chips! Adam made me promise to wait until spring to do the lower tier because he’s DONES-ZO with anything yard related! ha.

Then later this afternoon the kids and I decided to take a trip out to South Ridge Farms to go to the pumpkin patch. Unfortunately our plans were thwarted when we discovered its not open on Thursdays. Whoops guess I should have called fist. However, we didn’t let that damper our day! Instead we settled on getting some chicken nuggets fries and frosty’s at Wendy’s and then heading over to the park!

I loved this picture of Dawson’s “chocolate face” and Harrison’s “crazy hair.”

Nice spot for a picnic

we ended the night by eating donuts and drinking yummy Apple Cidar from South Ridge Farms that I had picked up at their store. Ummm Good!

Sure do love being a Mom!
