Surprise 11 year Anniversary to Tahiti!!!

This post is going to be a little different than some of my others because Its going to be completely dedicated to bragging about my my incredibly amazing husband Adam!  Sometimes I have to pinch myself because I just can’t believe Adam is real and that he gets to be mine for ETERNITY.  I must be the luckiest girl in the world.
Once again Adam went way over and beyond the call of duty to melt my heart and make me feel loved, cherished, and adored.  Let me start at the beginning…
On Labor Day we decided to go to the Onion Days parade since Adam had the day off work and since the kids love going.  Afterwards it was back to our normal Saturday routine though of cleaning house,  yard work, laundry, running errands, and getting stuff done.
That afternoon we were all bushed and so family naptime and quiet time was a MUST!  I went to my room to nap, and assumed Adam had gone downstairs to nap in his office while Adalynn napped in her room and the boys were watching a movie upstairs.  Unbeknownst to me though Adam was actually scheming and making fun plans for a little anniversary surprise!
When I woke up a little while later, Adam immediately came into our room and blindfolded me and said I was to sit still and not ask any questions.  He then began packing up suitcases, gathering items, and yelling for kids to get in the car.  I could tell something really great was about to happen!
Luckily I talked him out of the blindfold later (since I was driving) – but I was instantly super excited for whatever plans lay ahead because well…they involved suitcases – and suitcases in our family usually means FUN!  Lots of fun! 🙂
Adam then instructed me to drive up to Mum and Smurfs house (my wonderful in-laws) which got me even MORE excited because I was pretty sure that meant that some babysitting was happening – which also meant that I was going to get my Adam ALL TO MYSELF for the evening.   The WHOLE evening – if suitcases were involved.  The excitement just kept growing.
From there I was instructed to get on the freeway and head North.  My first thought was that we were either 1) going to our Logan cabin since we had booked it that weekend but then decided not to use it (seeing as Adam had JUST gotten back from India, and both of us were completely exhausted) or 2) that Adam had booked us a room at one of our condo’s (Wolf Creek or Bear Lake).
I was wrong on both accounts.  What my wonderful amazing man had done was to book us a night at an Anniversary Inn type hotel in AMERICAN FORK of all places.  Who knew?
As we pulled up to the hotel though it didn’t look like a hotel and I was so completely confused as to where Adam was taking me.  I thought maybe we were going to the restaurant first because it was just this smaller building at the back of a strip mall and right behind Arby’s.  Adam asked me to wait in the car a moment though and took our suitcases in with him – so that threw me for a loop confusing me even more.
He came out to get me though about 10 minutes later with the biggest mischievous smile I’d ever seen, sweet gestures like opening all the doors for me, helping me out of the car, putting my arm through his, and cute comments like “this way madam-mosel,” (sp?)  It was all very romantic!
He then explained to me as we were walking in how sorry he was that he hadn’t been able to take me to Tahiti for our 10 year anniversary (the year before) but he hoped that this would hold me over until we could go for reals.   We then turned the corner and I was able to see THIS!
And this!
My darling amazing husband had booked us a room in the hotels Tahiti Suite knowing that going to Tahiti has been a life long dream of mine and someplace I’ve always wanted to go.  We had planned to go for our 10 year anniversary the year before but because it was so far away and would require us to be away from our kids for longer than a week – we didn’t think it was a good time to go. We ended up taking a cruise to Alaska instead (which was great too!)
But my sweet Adam knew I’d been disappointed that we didn’t go to Tahiti and so this year for our anniversary (which wasn’t for another 11 days so I was TOTALLY not expecting any of this) he booked us in the Tahiti room where we could PRETEND we were there.  Isn’t that the cutest thing ever?  I literally was in tears with just how thoughtful and kind it was.  It just completely melted my heart.  In addition to booking us a great room Adam also had spruced the place up a bit, getting a bubble bath started for me, and lining the bath with the same flowers (sun flowers) that he proposed to me with.  He had brought little soaps and shampoos and smelly lotions for the bath and had drinks and snacks all ready, and later got soft classical music playing so I could relax in my nice bath.  It truly was a magical amazing gift from my darling sweetheart.  And I was loving every MINUTE of it!
The room was just incredible in itself too, complete with real sand and rocks as you walked in.
It also had dried grass on the ceiling (like the bungalows you stay in over the ocean in Tahiti).  You can also see the cute sun flowers Adam lined the bathtub with in the below picture.

I loved how the bathroom doors were made of bamboo rods and how they had a REAL fish tank on the floor of the room.  So ingenious!

It really was just a beautiful room!

The mosquito netting over the bed was perfect!

And they even had a fire that you could turn on (the picture looking thing at the end of the bathtub to the left of Adam).

Even the table decorations were in a Tahitian sea life theme.

We spent a few hours at the hotel just relaxing in the tub, listening to soft music, and enjoying some Tahitian ambiance, and then we decided we were getting hungry and ready to venture out for dinner.  Adam once again had worked everything out perfectly, including packing me a fancy black formal gown and calling ahead to make sure the place he wanted to take me to was open (since it was labor day).  We took a few pictures before heading out.

Adam surprised me by taking me to one of my favorite restaurants Tepenyaki’s in Lehi where we ordered Filet Mignon, Shrimp, Lobster, Crab, Sushi, Noodles and Rice.  Holy cow were we stuffed by the end of the night, but Adam’s boss had told him to take me out for a nice dinner (since he’d been away so long to India) and so we splurged!  The best part was just being alone together and enjoying each others company.

We ended the night by going up to my parents in Alpine to pick up their dehydrator I wanted to borrow, and then spent some time just hanging out with them for a bit.  So fun!  We love any chance we get to see them. Then we went back to the hotel for some R&R watching movies and snuggling in each others arms.  It was an absolutely WONDERFUL and PERFECT night spent with the man of my dreams.

I seriously just feel so blessed to be married to such an amazing man who loves me so well and shows me each and every day that I’m still the queen in his life.  Thank you my darling Adam for 11 years of blissful happiness and for Rocking my world in little and big ways!  I love you so much!
