Tea Parties and Picnics

While the boys are at school in the mornings all Adalynn ever seems to WANT to do is to “watch movies on my puter (computer).”  However, because we try to limit the amount of screen time our kids have each day, I try to help Adalynn discover other “fun things” to do during the day.  One of her favorite is to have a picnic and tea party with her “babies” (Disney dolls).  Adalynn got a play kitchen for Christmas (thanks to a nice neighbor who gave it to us for free) and then Santa brought her some play dishes and food to go with it.  So she loves any chance she has to play with her food and kitchen, especially if Mommy is doing it with her or one of her brothers.  It lights up her whole world!  She also loves getting dressed up in “princess dresses” (which she calls any dress she wears) but her favorite right now is her “pirate princess” dress she is wearing in the pictures below.

We really have so much fun having tea parties and picnics together though, and I laugh because Adalynn is very particular about her parties.  Everyone has to have the SAME colored bowls, spoons, forks, cups etc. (no mixing and matching) and the same foods.  (If I have a banana – she wants one too).  She also has to be the one to POOR the pretend tea, and likes to be the one to pass out the food.  I always tell her how delicious everything is as I pretend to eat it by putting it CLOSE to my mouth (but not in it).  Adalynn on the other hand digs her teeth into everything she eats, and slobbers all over her food making sure her pretend play looks as real as possible.  It totally cracks me up!  Love this girl!  And oh what fun it is to be able to spend time with her doing the things she loves!  Makes a Mamma’s heart smile! 🙂
