For several years Adam has been trying to talk me into going up to Washington to visit Cam and Erin (my wonderful brother and sister-in-law). And for several years I’ve wanted to go. However, its a 14 hour drive and for some reason I have a strong aversion to loooooong road trips with four small children, especially when I have to stop and nurse, make bottles, change diapers, etc. with new babies. They just really stress me out.
Now that our kids are a little older and Adalynn can handle less frequent stops, we decided to make the long trip. The good news for me though is that just this last year my Uncle Joe and Aunt Nellie along with my cousin Suzie and her husband Harvey moved up to Idaho – to the Boise area to be exact – which just so happens to be almost exactly half way to Washington. Plus it had been over 5 years since we had last seen them (they were in California before), so I suggested to Adam that we break the drive up a bit so that we could spend time with my Aunt, Uncle, and my cousins family! Lucky for us too, they weren’t busy and so we were able to go and see them, have a wonderful BBQ for dinner, do some hot tubing, and spend the night! I sure do love any chance I get to see the Fodor family! What a great group of folks! Below are some pictures from our fun evening together.
Meeting Suzie’s wonderful husband Harvey for the first time. She really got a catch with him. Both Adam and I talked later about what a wonderful couple they were. Such great people!
My Aunt Nellie, cousin Suzie, and Harvey
Hot tubing on Uncle Joe’s deck. Branson’s funny smile is him trying to show me his new lost tooth (to the left of his big teeth)
Suzie was awesome at helping me keep an eye on Adalynn trying to get into the hot tub by herself! That little girl is SNEAKY!
Daddy finally jumped in the hot tub so Adalynn could play!
This was the view from my Uncles Deck! Soooo pretty!
We hadn’t thought to bring a swim diaper since we didn’t know my Uncle had a hot tub so Adalynn went in the hot tub in a normal diaper. We loved her extra “big bum.” ha ha.
The kids had a ball playing out on the trampoline and running through the sprinklers.
Isn’t their backyard and garden beautiful? The kids loved running back and forth having races and trying to get through the sprinklers the fastest.
One of my favorite parts of the evening was getting to see this amazing sunset. We don’t get to see very many sunsets from where we are in Payson so this was a special treat for me. I couldn’t stop taking pictures. It just kept getting more and more beautiful.
We ended the evening with popcycles and drumstick ice cream. I had to laugh when Branson came out looking like a 25 year old convict with a skinny mustach. Nice mugshot face buddy!
My cute Uncle and Aunt waving us off the next morning. Love them!
Their new beautiful home.
The view as we were leaving Boise was incredible. We loved the rolling hills and farmland.
Later we went through some beautiful valleys in Oregon and Washington
Naptime was the best part of the day!
Branson was our photographer while traveling in the car.
I was pretty much in heaven driving through this canyon just before we arrived at Cam and Erins. They seriously live in an amazingly beautiful place. Washington is awesome.
Splitting up the drive and getting to spend time with my Aunt, Uncle, and cousin was wonderful. Adam just may convince me to make this trip more often! 🙂
