Trip to Playa Del Carmen, and a Sunday Walk

Day three in Mexico was Sunday and therefore brought our first trip OUTSIDE of our resort to a nearby town called Playa Del Carmen where we hoped to attend church.  We ended up taking a Taxi to the local LDS church in town and then waiting around for about 20 or 30 minutes for church to start.  We had fun chatting with the missionaries and some other tourists that had arrived the night before.  We were surprised to see so many Gringo’s (white people) attending with us from all over the area.  There were probably about 20+ of us in attendance.  Because it was the first Sunday in March it was fast and testimony meeting which was really cool.  We loved hearing the testimonies of the native Mexican people in their own language and loved the spirit they each brought.  It was neat to be in attendance.  And luckily there was a lady who was translating a few rows back so we did get to understand a tiny bit of what was actually being said.
Our Taxi drive came back for us after our meeting and kindly took us back to our resort where we had lunch, took some nice naps, and then headed over to Xcaret again to walk around.  It was another really wonderful day spent with my Mommy.  We ended the night by going out to dinner at another one of the resorts restaurants called “The Grill” and then we went home, read some in our books, talked a bunch and headed to bed.  Below are some pictures from our day.
Outside on our hotel balcony just about to leave for church!  Isn’t my Mamma pretty?

At Xcaret they had a tower thing you could take way up high to see the surrounding area.  It turned in circles to allow you to get a 360 degree view.

Up in the tower.

We took a relaxing jungle river cruise where they recommended complete silence during the entire ride.  Perfect for a Sunday afternoon.

We found lots of Mayan Ruins during our walk.

Silly pictures with some of the Tropical Leaves!  Mom you are like a Sun that brightens my everyday!

Pretending to be the statue of liberty.  My camera case is my torch. 🙂

As we were walking we heard music nearby and ended up discovering this dancing show.  The guy to the left that is doing a trick is pretending to be a dog in this dance.  It was quite funny.

We also discovered Xcaret’s aquarium which was pretty cool.  I loved the Jelly fish!

The Dolphins were SO friendly and would do tricks if you moved your fingers in circles.

They had a shark tank as well.

Sting Rays!

Getting ready to dive in and swim with the Turtles

On the walk back to our hotel room – Xcaret had all these awesome warriors dressed up in real Mayan attire.  It was so cool to see some of the crazy things the Mayan men and women used to wear.

Another wonderful day spent with my Mommy!  Sure do love her!
