Versailles, Marie Antoinette’s House, and The Grand Trianon

For our last day in Paris we decided to take the train up to Versailles where we could see the palace, Marie Antoinettes house and gardens and the Grand Trianon.  The weather was the best we’d seen it (well at least the warmest) which was good because we were outside quite a bit.  We had a great time, although it was very tiring walking around so much.  We loved seeing such amazing buildings, paintings, gardens, and architecture though.  Another great day in Paris!  Below are some pictures from our day.
Not sure what sort of building this is.
We just saw it as we were walking to Versailles from the train and liked it.

For lunch we just grabbed a sandwich and burrito from a snack shack and then sat on the stairs overlooking the gardens.  Adam wanted to go explore the gardens but I was still sick and feeling weary from our walking tour so I oped to stay on the stairs and read a book while Adam went to see the gardens and fountains.  Apparently though there wasn’t much to see as almost all the statues were covered and the fountains not working, and then of course with it being early Spring, there wasn’t a lot of garden to see either.  I think we missed the beautiful spring flowers by just a few weeks darn it all. 🙁

Gotta love the Potty!

Adam and I both loved Marie’s gardens though and the little ponds and rocks she put in.  She really did a great job helping design it all.

From there we headed over to the Grand Trianon, another very impressive building with amazing furniture, artwork, and architecture!  We loved touring these magnificent palaces!

After all of our tours, I was really super tired from once again going full speed ahead all day when I should have been resting, so we decided to fork out some Euros for a mini train shuttle ride back to Versailles.  We decided to pick up some dinner at a local shop as we walked (A hot turkey sandwich and BBQ chicken sandwich with fries) and then boarded our train back to Paris.  Adam ended up dropping me off at the boat and then decided to go and spend a few hours going through the Louve while I rested.  I think I ended up sleeping from like 6pm until 8 am the next morning, but my poor body had had it.  And on the bright side of things, being sick helped me appreciate being on a long plane ride where the only thing I could do was to REST!  I was actually kind of looking forward to it.  But mostly I just wanted to get back home and into the arms of my babies.  I had missed them something fierce!  We sure did enjoy our Paris trip though and were glad we were able to see and do so much.  Life is good and we truly are so blessed!
