Wellness Checkups

This past week I got the unusual pleasure of taking all 3 boys in for their wellness checkups at the SAME time. I figured that I would try to knock out three birds with one stone by getting them all back to back appointments together but it proved to be quite the challenge to say the least! We started out with Branson getting his eyes checked, while I held Dawson in one arm and Harrisons hand in another. Then I helped one nurse get Harry and Bransons weight and height while another nurse undressed Dawson and took his weight and height. I then had to figure out how to take all three boys into the bathroom where Brans had to give the nurses a urine sample! So between trying to keep Harry from playing in the sink water, and talking Branson into peeing into a cup for the first time, it was quite humorous. Luckily one of the nurses offered to hold Dawson for me outside in the hall. Then came the shots. 4 for Branson (who had to get two in his legs and two in his arms) but who was brave and didn’t even want Mommy to comfort him, and then 2 for Harrison (who screamed bloody murder and fought like a mad man to get loose from the grasp of me and the nurses). Then it was Dawsons turn who did REALLY well until shot 3 where he also started screaming pretty hard. It took a few minutes to get all 3 boys calmed down but we eventually did it. The doctor came in and checked each boy, and luckily all 3 did pretty well for the physical examination with the exception of Harry who DID NOT like having his pants taken off, someone putting stuff in his ears, and having someone move and touch him that he didn’t know. 🙂 We had a few meltdowns with that, but as soon as the doctor finished up with him he was happy as a clam again. I luckily brought cookies that worked great as bribes for good behavior! 🙂 Yes, bad I know, but it works. And desperate times call for desperate measures! 🙂

So without further ado, here are the boy stats: (This is more for my sake then anyones elses as I like to remember this stuff).

Dawson (6 months)
Weight: 15 lbs 12 oz, 18th percentile
Height: 27.25 inches, 78th percentile
Head: 17.0 inches, 33rd percentile (Looks like we have another tall and skinny one on our hands!)

Harrison (2 years)
Weight: 27 lbs 12 oz, 47th percentile
Height: 35.6 inches, 81st percentile
Head: 20.0 inches, 93rd percentile. (Adam and I tease that we are going to have to buy him a HUGE Pilla for his Orange on a Toothpick head! That thing is enormous!)

Branson (4 Years)
Weight: 35 lbs 8 oz, 40th percentile
Height: 41 inches, 57th percentile
(Funny side note: The doctor said that if Branson continues on this same growth curve that he will be 5’10 as an adult male. We thought that was pretty interesting considering I’m 5’10 and all my brothers are 6’3 or 6’4, and that Adam and most of his brothers are 6’1 or above. But we do have some short genes in both our families too. I have an aunt that is 5’2 or so (I think) and Adam’s Mom is pretty short too. It will be interesting to see.)

I still am having a hard time grasping onto the fact that 1) I have three boys! and 2) that I have a 4 year old, 3) that Harrison is 2 already and 3) that Dawson is 6 months old. WHERE IS THE TIME GOING? Does it feel like its on warp speed for anyone else? Wow! I feel like I will blink and all three boys will be gone on missions! It just goes to show that each day really is a gift. I’m so grateful to be a mommy and to have these sweet little ones in my life. Although they can be little monsters at times, they bring me so much joy and make my heart sing. How grateful I am for my family!
