Yellowstone Geysers and Hot Pots

On Friday after a wonderful breakfast of hot cakes, eggs, hash-browns  and juice, and after fixing some sandwiches for a picnic lunch, we all loaded up in the cars and headed out to Yellowstone National park.  Although it was a FREEZING cold day (in the mid 30’s), it was an absolutely BEAUTIFUL day as well and perfect for picture taking.  I felt like I was in heaven at every turn with the incredible scenery.  Needless to say both Smurf and I took a ton of pictures.  Therefore the next few posts will be broken up by geysers and hotpots, lakes rivers and waterfalls, and wild life.  Hope you enjoy.

These next set of pictures were all taken at Old Faithful – but lucky us a 2nd REALLY BIG Geyser was going off at pretty much the exact same time.  Apparently this geyser only goes off once a day and is sporadic when it does go off.  We felt very lucky to be able to see them both going at the same time and kept switching our cameras back and forth taking pictures.

This “smaller” geyser is actually Old Faithful.  Its not quite as faithful anymore though and has gone from going off every hour to going off every 70-80 minutes so its getting a little more unpredictable.

We loved the rainbow of colors the water made as it shot into the air.

The kids sure did love getting to learn about the geysers and hot pots and enjoyed seeing nature in action.
