The other day I was busily trying to finish something up that I was working on for my upcoming mission reunion when I heard some mischief going on in the kitchen from Dawson. It sounded pretty innocent at first – mostly plastic items – so I let it go temporarily until I could finish up what I was doing. However, a few minutes later I heard glass breaking and jumped to my feet and ran to the kitchen to make sure Dawson was okay and to keep his little toes out of danger.
When I walked into my kitchen I was amazed. Apparently the little angel (stinker) had gotten into the refrigerator, gotten out our big container of yogurt, put it up on the counter, pushed a stool from the island bar, and then proceeded to climb up the stool onto the counter so that he could get a little bowl to pour his yogurt into. The only problem was – that he couldn’t find the little bowl I always use for his yogurt so he had taken every single one of our PLASTIC bottles, sippy cups, bowls, plates, and adult sized cups out of the cupboard. When that didn’t seem to pronounce the said bowl – he then reached up higher and started throwing down the GLASS cups (which is what I had heard from my room).
Then in his hurry to run away from said crime scene (after the glass broke and he knew he was in trouble) he accidentally knocked the yogurt off the counter, spilling it all over my kitchen floor and down my dish washer. When I walked into the kitchen Dawson gave me the biggest fake smile ever and joyfully shouted “I make mess!?” That little stinker. He totally knows how to melt his mamma’s heart. He did, however, receive a timeout for his naughtiness. đ
Then on Sunday as we were walking out of church Harrison was talking about going to the Wind Rivers mountain range where Adam has been going backpacking since he was just five years old. Adam sees going to the Wind Rivers sort of as a right of passage and plans to take each of our children when they are five years old as well. Branson got to go last year and it is pretty much all he talks about since that is where Brans caught his first fish. Anyway, out of the blue as we are walking to our car Harrison all the sudden yells. “Dad when I go to the Wind Rivers with you I’m going to catch a fish and its going to be IMPRESSIVE and HUGE!” We both just started busting a gut. Maybe it was just the way he said it. Maybe it was because it was completely out of the blue. Or maybe it was because we’ve never even heard him use the word IMPRESSIVE…but it sure was funny! đ Just wanted to capture it for remembrance sake.
oh man what a mess, I hope he was okay. I was hoping for a picture but you probably had other things to think about during that time. you are a great blogger Sarah yet a another way I should be more like you! đ Glad you are feeling better.
