Pranang Cave & Beach, and Railay West Beach

Since we arrived at Railay beach at night, we had no idea what the island we were staying at looked like. You can imagine our surprise when we woke up to THIS!  Wow.  We loved just going around the hotel grounds and just exploring the area around us.

A hotel pool overlooking the ocean?  I’ll take that! 🙂

We loved the view from the pool!

And the kids loved getting to play in the water.

We took a stroll down the walkway by our hotel to look for some breakfast, and oh boy did we ever find some!  Check out these beauties.  If you are ever in Thailand make sure to try out the Thai pancakes.  To. Die. For.  And they came in just about any flavor combinatino you can imagine.  The one to the left is banana and nutella, and the one to the right is fresh mango with strawberry jam.  Holy Yum!

Our new favorite thing to do with broken forks! 🙂  I vant to suck your blood!

Walking back to our hotel we saw some beautiful sights!

We stopped to grab some life jackets and towels and then headed out to see Pranang cave and beach.

We couldn’t believe how beautiful the caves were AND how close to the walkway.  You could literally walk through the caves at just about the same speed you could walk along the path way.

The kids absolutely loved exploring the caves!

And notice this little guy in this picture.  Beautiful face – no scratch marks.  You may notice a slight change a little further below.

And bam!  Poor fella took a bit of a fall in the cave and came away with this.  We thought he might need stitches but luckily it stopped bleeding pretty fast.

Then after our cave explorations we headed over to the West side of the island to Pranang Beach.  A storm was coming in so it was a little cloudy, but it quickly passed and we were able to enjoy some beautiful weather afterwards.

This beach is also a famous one for rock climbing!  Adam was so wishing he had brought all his gear!

At first we had a portion of the beach to ourselves – but within about 20 minutes the entire beach ended up PACKED!

Don’t look too closely at the little display of “things” behind Adalynn in this picture.  I didn’t realize what they were at first, but later after reading about this beach I discovered what they were, and I’m still shaking my head over it.  Ai-Yai- Yii!

And the crowds come in!

While we were at the beach Adam and I went out to jump waves while the kids played in the sand and while we were out an Indian family came and started swimming by us – all with life jackets on.  However, they later went and started swimming by the rocks and got trapped against them as the waves came in and kept pushing them against them.  A Dad and his too kids.  Adam was holding Adalynn at the time and trying to help one of the girls to safety so I ran over to try to get Adalynn from him so he could help the others and ended up taking the girl and Ady back to safety.  The family was so grateful for Adams help and we made quick friends when they found out we were living in India.

Since rock climbing didn’t happen, Adam made sure to get a little bouldering in instead.
What a stud!

Then we made the trip back home.  As we were walking we ran into some other tourists who we discovered were from Quebec and were French Canadian.  Since my ancestors are French Canadian and from the same area, I really enjoyed talking to them and getting to know them better.  We became instant friends and later went out to lunch together and then even booked an excursion together the next day!  It was great getting to know Max, Mary, Stephanie, and Jim!

We also took a little walk over to the West Beach in Railay which is by far the better beach!  It was just gorgeous!

Then we headed back to the hotel for naps and down time.

And maybe another quick dip in the pool! 🙂  Gotta love vacations!

These are some shots of our hotel.  It was only $20 a night ($40 for us since we had two rooms) but so so nice!  We absolutely LOVE the prices of lodging and food in Thailand.  You just can’t beat it!

We felt like we were living in Paradise!

Life sure is good!
