When we woke up Friday morning we couldn’t believe it but it had snowed 4 inches on us during the night! Wow! But the snow was absolutely GORGEOUS and made for one fun and eventful Wind Rivers trip!! Unfortunately for Casey, Sam, and Erica though, it meant that hiking up to Lost Lake probably wasn’t a possibility (they hadn’t brought winter clothes like we had) so they ended up just packing out and going home that morning. We were sad to see them go, but grateful for the little time we had with them.
The snow didn’t slow down the kids at all and they immediately set to work making a gigantic snow man!
Adam was once again the hero of the day when he helped the kids lift the giant balls of snow on top of each other! Dad’s ar the best!
For breakfast the kids wanted poptarts and hot chocolate, while Adam and I preferred eggs and bacon breakfast burrito’s. Yum!
This is Matthew. He was the son of Ray who is one of Casey’s Dental school friends. My boys absolutely LOVED having him up there to play with and they became friends immediately.
Cute Jocelyn unfortunately stopped having fun once the bad weather hit and her feet got cold, but I luckily got a few smiles out of her anyway. She was our champion wood whittler though and carved 3 different sticks!
This was my favorite invention the kids made. A teeter totter with an old tree over a stump! They had so much fun on this!
Saying our goodbyes to this fun group! Casey, Jocey, Sam, Erica, Ray, & Matthew.
We ended up deciding to hike up to Lost Lake anyway that day despite the snow (it kept falling all morning) and followed Casey’s group out as far as Porcupine Creek before parting ways.
We took one last group picture before we said our farewells.
Adam was awesome and helped everyone cross the river safely.
Casey and Jocey (who is 8 years old). Casey was super Dad and carried his pack and hers the whole way down the mountain.
