Suphur Mountain Gondola – Banff National Park

For our last day in Banff, we decided to splurge a bit, and so we booked tickets to take a gondola to the top of Sulphur mountain.  It was highly rated on tripadvisor, and with good reason, the views were amazing! Adam at first wasn’t too thrilled about going (he thought it was too expensive) but it really wasn’t that bad of a price if you considered the exchange rate and that the American dollar was much stronger than the Canadian one (basically we got 25% off of everything we bought).  So I finally was able to convince him to make the trip and I think he ended up being glad we went.

We had to laugh because we came to find EXACTLY which children were afraid of heights on the way up.  Can you tell from their faces?

If you guessed Dawson, you hit the nail on the head!  He was so freaked out, and just kept saying, “I didn’t ask to go on this!”

We loved the views as we got higher and higher.

Hard to tell from this picture but we went a REALLY long way up!  And up some super stiff cliffs!

Branson and Dawson ended up switching places – mid ride – so that Dawson could look “up” instead of “down.” ha ha. It luckily did help a little.

At the top they had an observation area, a restaurant, and store you could peruse.

They also had a fun little hike you could go on to a higher peak with 360 degree views.  We ended up deciding to hike to that and it was really fun!

Branson found the Indian flag on the observation deck and had to get a picture of it.
So glad he still remembers our awesome time in India and has such good memories of it!

And one by the South Korean flag as well since we also got to visit there as well to tour Adam’s mission.

After exploring the observation area sufficiently we headed towards the highest peak to get an even better view of the mountains and valleys around us.  Such a gorgeous place!

These next three pictures show the 360 degree views from the top.  Love panoramas!

At the top they had this stone little house (which I believe was a weather station) with glass windows where they had set up furniture and maniquins to show how people used to live or work up there.

The view of the building we came from where we took the gondola ride.

It was pretty cool to be so high up!  We felt like we wee on top of the world!

After a few hours of exploring it was time to head back down the mountain.

We all acted scared to help Dawson feel better!

What a fun outing for our family!
