Korea Town & Griffith Observatory

After our fun day at the beach the kids and I were pretty exhausted and so I had Branson text Adam (who was back at the apartment working) with the suggestion that we pick him up and go out for dinner in Korea town! This as you can imagine was not a hard sell considering Korea is where Adam served his mission and is his favorite food! He was all in! It just so happened that Korea town was only a few minutes from where we were staying as well so it worked out perfectly. We picked Adam up and went to the Korean mall to have dinner in the eatery. Adam ended up going o 3 or 4 different places to order all our food, which meant we all got our favorites! We were all in Korea Heaven!

We saw this cool church on the way home!
The next day we all were pretty burnt out traveling and going and so we declared it a down day and spent the entire day relaxing back at the apartment. The kids watched movies most of the day while I downloaded pictures, checked my email, researched beach houses (for the Harrison reunion) and looked into all the best attractions to see in Los Angeles and Yosemite. One of the most highly rated attractions was the Griffith Observatory which just so happened to be FREE! So we decided to hit it up that night. So after a tasty meal of potato soup, we drove the 35 minutes up to the parking lot where we discovered that it was completely full and you had to find street parking. I ended up seeing a car leave in what looked to be a pretty good spot and so I snagged it, but it ended up that we still had to walk quite a ways to get to the observatory. In the end though we discovered that it was a pretty dang good spot to park compared to most! We felt super lucky! We also loved that we got to see the Hollywood sign as we hiked up! If you look closely you can see it off to the left of my head in the picture below on the tallest mountain.

Here is a better close up shot of it.

We also got to see some pretty cool views of the city!

We walked around the outside for a bit and then made our way inside where we got to learn all about the stars and planets, and see the sun in different lights, and a host of other really cool things. We could see why the observatory was so highly rated. It was really well done and runs off of donations.

It sure was a fun night spent as a family!
