We started Mother’s Day weekend out with a bang by doing a quick overnight camping trip to Utah lake with friends.
This was our first time camping at Utah lake as a family and we were shocked by how busy it was! 🤪
We had a hard time finding an open site, especially for our large group, but stumbled upon a site that had potential. It was big, had beautiful views, and far from the crowds, but was filthy dirty and covered in garbage! 😢 It looked like a mini land fill!
We decided to see it as an opportunity to do a family service project and beautify the area, so we pulled out our garbage bags and got to work! It was amazing the difference that just 15 minutes made! We filled up 3 big black garbage bags and then burned a bunch of other junk, including 2 pillows and a few big boxes. But it was an awesome site after that. We loved it! ❤️ Hopefully others will be able to enjoy it now too. 🥰
We then got busy making tinfoil dinners in the fire, but realized quickly that I’d left the meat at home defrosting in the microwave! 😂 Whoops!
Thankfully I’d also brought some leftover soup so we warmed that up and then did veggie dinners in the fire! Brans later brought the meat, but most of us were full! 😂
Our friends then started arriving and we spent the rest of the night eating s’mores, roasting starbursts, hanging around the fire, and playing corn hole and football! It was a wonderful evening!
Unfortunately around 9:30 we had a huge wind storm come through which ended the party pretty abruptly! 😜 We hurried and put everything away before it blew away, put the fire out that was not staying contained in the pit due to the wind, and said goodbye to our friends. We then put our kids to bed in the trailer, and Adam and I watched a movie.
The next morning we made pancakes with strawberries for breakfast and then packed up camp and headed home!
Such a fun quick little getaway! So grateful for wonderful friends, fun memories made, and time spent outside amongst Gods beautiful creations! ❤️
