The Grand Canyon

Sorry for the picture overload in some of these blog posts, but when you are visiting incredible sights like Antelope Canyon and The Grand Canyon (which is the largest canyon in the United States) you tend to get a little camera happy! In any case, we loved our time at these two canyons and were amazed at their beauty, diversity, and grandeur! It was also the first time the kids and Adam had ever been to the Grand Canyon so it was a real treat! My parents had taken me when I was little, but It still held that same magnificence seeing it as an adult! It is just such a cool place!
We ended up coming in from the East entrance since we were coming down from Page, and then stopped at most of the main viewing points along the way until we got to the village. Then we spent some time at the Geological museum. We had thought it might be fun to also take the kids on a train over to the West side of the Grand Canyon, but by the time we got to the village the kids were kinda done seeing the canyon. Apparently it all looked pretty much the same after the first stop 10 stops! Or maybe they just haven’t learned to appreciate nature yet like Adam and I. But in any case we ended up deciding to just forgo that adventure and instead started heading South to grab some dinner in Williams and check into our hotel room in Kingman. Our total driving time for the day ended up being about 5 1/2 hours.
At our first stop they had this cool observation point which almost looked like a fortress!

These next pictures are all of different view points along the road to the village. We probably stopped at 6 or 7 different places.

We loved seeing this Mamma elk while we were stopped at a viewpoint!

Here we are at Yavapai point which has the best views of the canyon

The kids loved the Geological museum and learning about how the Grand Canyon was formed and how big it is.

This was the view from the other side of the museum.

We sure did love our time at the Grand Canyon. Afterwards we went and got some Mexican food in Williams and then drove the few hours over to Kingman where I had booked us a night at the Knights Inn in Kingman, Arizona. We spent the evening swimming in the hotel pool and then went back to our rooms for baths and showers to prepare for church the next day. Another great day spent with family in some of God’s most grandest creations!
